After doing the changes in my bios after the error-"too much work" when rebooting and the many updates from the update manager, my desktop is still giving me messages when shutting down and my browser is freezing & then turns greyish. Can anybody help me to at least test my Gnome in my desktop.
Thank you.

Care to elaborate?
At the very least post some screens of the problem and the error message

When I shut down, there are all kinds of messages that show up for about 2 seconds (too quick for me to read). I dontīt know how to copy these messages for you to know what I am talking about. That is, unless you know how. Or should I just go straight to testing the Gnome configuaration in my destop.
Thanks for the quick reply.

I don't know if is the same thing but if it is then you don't have to worry because they are just the system turning off messages not error messages, there are ways to turn off that option i don't remember how but if you search in the forum you find some.
Now you want to test the gnome shell, i advise you go here http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1603874&highlight=gnome+shell
