I have had an external monitor connected to my Sony Vaio VGN-TZ398U and working properly for months. This morning I connected it and the fonts throughout my desktop distorted (see attached screeshot). I am running 11.04 desktop 64-bit

Below is my output from lspci. I'm stumped on this one - any ideas?

I found a work around for this problem... I was able to determine that it was a compiz problem so I disabled the compiz effects (System > Preferences > Appearance > Visual Effects Tab and chose "None")
