I came here as I understand that, if Cygwin packages are GNU most (or related to it), most packages used in Ubuntu for C++ must be the same packages available in Cygwin.

Now, I installed Cygwin on my Windows 7 x64 computer. Downloaded already the gcc-g++ package. But don't know what others packages are needed to compile and make programs in C++ (not familiar with Unix-like systems, enviroments, etc).

I want to know the name of all packages necessary for doing so in order to locate and download them.

Thanks for the help that can be given.

IIRC, cygwin offer an installer which allows you so easily search + select the correct packages needed for you.
