After upgrade mouse keyboard is not working

Hi,

I am using 10.10, yesterday I did an upgrade using update manager.
After restart, booting stops at login screen, keyboard and mouse is not working.
I tried login into recovery mode as well as previous kernel versions nothing is working.

I tried to login into single user mode even that is also not working.

Can anyone help me how to get out of this mess.

Apart from the upgrade have you changed anything? like any of your hardware? also did you get any errors with the upgrade?

No I did not change any hardware, and my upgrade was a success too, even single user mode is also not working.

Is it possible to reinstall ubuntu by keeping the same filesystem.

It will be helpful if you can give me a link.
