Eclipse 3.6

I am installed ubuntu 10.10 net book edition on my dell studio laptop. Ubutnu 10.10 comes with eclipse 3.5 by default but I want to use eclipse 3.6. I have installed Jdk and jre, the latest versions, I have downloaded the eclipse 3.6 version from eclipse site it self but still i am not to use it. Please help me to find the solutions

If the package you downloaded is a deb (filename.deb)

open the folder with the package and right click on the file and select the Gdebi installer.

If the package you got is a .tar file, right click and open it with the archive manager, then read the readme file for instructions
