I installed Ubuntu Ultimate,
everything is fine but the desktop color is ugly,
I changed theme but some background is still ugly, its default colors are all dark blue.
Any way to change that?;)

Some of the Ubuntu Ultimate themes have removal instructions on the the download page or in the read me file that comes with the theme.

You may need to purge via the terminal .

normally changing theme will change all colors.
but not so in UE.
Do you use UE also?

I have looked at some of the UU themes and noticed in the instructions some require scrips to install or remove .

If this is not the case , I suggest you remove the theme file from where the theme is installed . It may be in file system usr/share/themes or home folder > hidden folders . themes.

Judging from a screenshot on the website of UU it's also possible -like in the default Ubuntu desktop- to change the background settings via the "Appearance" dialog, right-click at your desktop, then at "Change Desktop Background".

desktop background can be changed, but it has nothing to do with other applications color.

Could you post a link to the theme please. There are UU themes on different sites and the instructions vary.

You didn't mention that you want to change the application background/colors. Those are indeed included in the theme, sometime one has the option to change some colors via the "Customize" dialog, like with the default themes. That requires that the author of the theme has build in those options.

If you want to change the colors of your specific theme manually, open the file "gtkrc" in the "gtk-2.0" subdirectory of that theme. In that you will find -usually at the beginning- a section specifying the default colors of the theme. It may be that in the sections further down the file some colors are specified again or different.

Good luck!

EDIT: If UU doesn't apply all the colors included in a theme, I don't have a solution at hand currently.

The URL isn't working, maybe because of the REAL "..." in it instead of the rest of it.;)

I may have wrongly thought that you installed a UE theme and not the Ubuntu Ultimate Edition its self and that is why I made the suggestions I did.

The UE has its own forum and you may get answer faster on that forum . Here is a link. http://forumubuntusoftware.info

I had similar problems with the default theme in UE and it's ugliness. I was guessing the difficulty in removing it might have had something to do with the fact it was using the Emerald theme manager and that was conflicting with the Gnome appearance settings. I have since scrapped UE, I didn't need a lot of that stuff it comes with.

UE does have many themes to choose, right click desktop and you can get it from the pop up to change background wallpaper,
however, the theme does not change eveything, i mean, some application like Amarok, still retaining the ugly Blue color background.

Try the UE forum also the link is on post 12. It sounds like there is something wrong with appearance preferences.

to be, ugly does not matter, what matters is when the wording/texts appear difficult to read because of poor contrast. ;)

When having an issue with Linux Ultimate Edition It is always best to post it on the Ultimate Edition forum !http://ultimateedition.info/ The blue Theme is an Emerald theme Right Click the compiz icon in the top menu bar and ether click "emerald theme manager" to change the emerald theme OR click "select window decorator" and tick "GTK window decorator", This will let you change your theme via appearances ! :D

You can open synaptic package manager and search ubuntu studio, that will show you all of what ubuntu studio has as well as the default theme, Ubuntu studio itself is rather complicated to install as you have to compile the content, it is not a "Live" CD. Also check out
Theme Linux for some really great themes! Also brought to us by Theemahn! :D
