i plugged it in ubuntu 10.10 desktop. it could not detect ssid but it could detect other ssids. if connect manually, it asks for WPA2 passwd repeatedly. the router is SMC router.

if the wireless usb is inserted in a windows, it could connect to SMC router.

smc.com has a driver but rather difficult to compile.

pls share your experience.

Hello,

Just got one of these with a refurbished Dell Optiplex 745. The install disk does include a Linux driver (wonder of wonders and bless their hearts) but no instructions for installing it.

It's a tar.bz2. If I extract it (open it?) with Archive Manager, will that be adequate to install it? If so, where should I extract it?

Thanks in Advance,

mike

p.s. As you can probably tell, there's very little depth to my understanding of Ubuntu beyond the GUI, despite my having used it exclusively since Dapper.

p.p.s. I've received no replies to this but, in case anyone else is searching, there's a very simple solution here (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1509969).
