so i was just minding my own business, when my wireless just cuts out, seemingly for no reason, so i checked my router and modem, which were fine, and other computers are working on it as well
then i checked my notification area, and to my horror, the ENABLE WIRELESS button was unavailable. so i boot into windows 7, and it's not working there either.

it's an Intel centrino advanced-n 6200 series

it doesn't need a proprietary driver
i reinstalled 10.10 and it still doesn't work in either windows or ubuntu
please help

Welcome.

Sounds like hardware failure if not working in either. Settings in Ubuntu will NOT effect wireless in Windows. You might boot to the BIOS and see if perhaps it has somehow been switched off there.
