Live USB. No Display

I used the USB creator on Windows to make a bootable USB drive. I can get to the menu, Run Ubuntu from this disk and Install Ubuntu on the HDD both result in nothing being displayed after a seemingly successful bootup. It loads, if I click aimlessly with the trackpad sometimes it makes a sound.

Try UNetbootin, sometimes it works when usb-creator doesn't.
or try the flash drive in a second computer.
or check the MD5SUM of the iso.

Still no go. I have installed it successfully on my desktop, but it won't show the desktop on my laptop. It plays the startup sound though.
