View Full Version : [ubuntu] Change to Different Desktops

Hi Guys,

I am newbie to Linux,, currently i am having Ubuntu 10.10 which is having gnome i think (default one)..
I like to experiment with different Desktops like XFCE or KDE.. Can somebody help me how to do it???

You can use either the Software Center or Synaptic Package Manager to install xubuntu-desktop (XFCE) or kubuntu-desktop (KDE). Then you can logout and from the login screen you should be able to chose between Gnome, XFCE and KDE.

Note that once an environment has been installed, it is very very hard to remove (although if you are not using it, it only takes space on the harddrive and adds programs to the menu).

You cant remove it.

You could ask the admins/mods to combine the 2 threads. Hit the 'report abuse' button and then report this thread. Put a note in to tell the mods why you are reporting it.

If they arent to busy from the forum going dodgy, they will combine the threads for you ;)
