Yesterday, i posted a thread on these forums asking what was the maximum number of partitions possible on a hard drive. I was told that the answer is four, but i have three partitions right now (still haven't created a Ubuntu partition) and i read something about swap partitions when installing Ubuntu. Since i'll be over four partitions if i create a Ubuntu Partition and a swap partition, is it possible to use a swap file instead?

I have little to no knowledge on the topic of partitions and such, so I'd appreciate any help

Trying to install Ubuntu 10.10 on my Windows 7(64-bit) laptop to dual-boot.

Hi

You can have more than 4 partitions.

You can only have a maximum of 4 primary partitions, but you can have more logical partitions.
