Hi,

i have a new computer and installed ubuntu desktop 64bit. The machine has a NVidia GTX 470, but the screen shows blurry images. It seems as if the resolution is actually higher than the one supported by the monitor (the borders are not displayed) and the color depth is reduced to 64k (or less?) - it's pretty ugly.

My monitor is a samsung syncmaster with a native resolution of 1920x1080. If i run a lower resolution like 1600x1200 then the image is fine.

I found another thread regarding similar problems with a GTX 460 (here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1595509&page=5) and i followed the instructions, but they didn't help (recommendation was to download the newest nvidia drivers or try those from Xswat).

I now have the NVidia driver version 260.19.29.

Any ideas how i can solve this problem?

Thanks
Christoph
