I'm still in 8.04, with a FULLY mature OS, and no problems ;) . I like ANY LTS better, and I have a commercial-burned 10.10 (usually a better burn than a home-burn).

So I'm tempted to load the 10.10, instead of cooking up a 10.04 disk...

Anybody here run both? Which did you like better of the 2?

Have a look at this (http://askubuntu.com/questions/19234/should-i-choose-10-04-lts-or-10-10).

I've used them both. I prefer 10.10 over 10.04 on my dell. On my wife gateway she has 10.04 and is very happy. I suggest you try the live CD before a final install of the version of your choice.

10.10 is awesome on a laptop. I couldn't get my wireless to work with 10.04. Worked great with 10.10 netbook edition. Unity is nice too!!!

Any particular reason? Or was it a coin toss heads or tails? If it's trade secrets, I understand...

Use what works best for you with your particular setup (hardware, usage etc.).

I always try something as a LiveCD first to check compatibility and so on.

No particular reason. They both installed and worked good. As for my wife she just upgraded to 10.10 today. Her gateway doesn't seem to have any problems with 10.10 either.

I have a Compaq Presario desktop that is maybe 4 or 5 years old. I ran 10.04 and it crashed on me sometimes several times a day. Since I upgraded to 10.10, no more crashes. But that's just my hardware, your's may be different.
