View Full Version : [ubuntu] Trying to listen to an online radio

January 16th, 2011, 02:16 AM
Hey everyone,

I've been trying to listen to this online radio (http://radioamc.com.br/) but I've been having some problems... I first tried the obvious, that was clicking the little "Play" button on the radio box, but that would only make come up a notification that I didn't have the correct plugins to do that. After that, a quick search for a "text/html decoder" comes up, with no results. I later tried creating a Stream on Amarok, directed to the link the "Play" button redirects to (that would be http://radioamc.com.br/play.php). No success. My last try was using Radio Tray, and creating a station with the same link. All failed.

So my last hope is this magnificent forum. What to do, fellow penguins? (In case any info is necessary, I am more than willing to share it...)
Oh yeah, btw, my Internet browser is Firefox, if that is of any help :P

My guess it needs activex plugin (Microsoft). You might try playing around with wine. I use this radio website.

Bleh, tried a few programs, but not sure if they don't work or if I did something wrong... Any ideas on how to play the .php radio?

Are you sure web site is even working? According to this it's not. Translated through Google. Portuguese is not my language.

If it is working or if it isn't I couldn't say, but he always updates his status and sends me messages when the program is up... I suppose the radio is working, but the rest of the site isn't... :|

The play button works for me if I wait a minute or so. I think the problem is that the site does not have enough bandwidth, the stream only loads at 6kB/s.
Check your download speed in system monitor to see whether it is loading or not.

email the owners of that site and tell them to fix it.

Poor coding. Strictly amateur hour.
