Hi,

I upgraded my box from 9.10 to 10.04, and my user account has some issues:

Desktop resolution is stuck at 1024*768, and I have to use nvidia-settings to change it. Saving settings makes no difference.
Many hangs

I have since created two new accounts, an admin and an unprivileged desktop user, and both are hugely quicker and display at the right resolution.

Any thoughts about what might be wrong?

With the resolution issue, I would have thought that there were a .conf somewhere which I could delete to force nvidia-settings to treat this as a new account.

Or to solve both issues with one stone: is there a way to recreate my account, but without deleting my username's group memberships and files I own outside of /home/?
