Unity not working Intel 945GM

Basically what the title says. When running gnome it works fine. It'll even run compiz. But when I add an external monitor in addition to the laptop screen it won't run compiz anymore.

I have a laptop with intel gm945 with the screen broken. I only can use it with an external monitor.
