Hello everybody!
Just yesterday i switched from Windows 7 to Ubuntu 10.10 (yeah absolute noob) and as you can imagine i have already spent 20+ hours googling for about everything (i truly mean everything) to get it done in Ubuntu. But i won't give up, i predict that in about a month's time i will return to windows JUST for Solidworks and 3DSMax (i think they still suck at best with WINE?).
Anyway i have seen some desktop configurations that are incredible and i want that for mine too. But i can't find a single site to guide me thoroughly in order to achieve something like that (http://farm1.static.flickr.com/156/405394003_15b04e2c2e_o.png)(i've seen better but you get the point).
So where should i look for such a "guide"?

Compiz is the program that you want (to configure): http://wiki.compiz.org/

It is already installed by default, to easyly configure it's settings, install CCSM (CompizConfig Settings Manager), enter in a terminal:

sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-managerYou will it after that in the "Preferences" menu.

You may also want to install the extra-plugins:

sudo apt-get install compiz-fusion-plugins-extraHave fun with it!

PS: You are probably right with WINE, running a Virtual Machine is another option:

EDIT: Oh, you may mean the theme also. See http://gnome-look.org/, like Frogs Hair suggests.
I have no hint for the desktop widgets, if you mean that too.
