There is an entry for Windows7 in your grub.cfg. What happens exactly when you try booting Windows7?

PS: What is 'Loaded Win7'?

PS: What is 'Loaded Win7'? = i tried to mean that windows 7 had already loaded and ubuntu is 2nd OS.

What happens exactly when you try booting Windows7? = just nothing.

thanks.

First try in Ubuntu try
sudo update-grub
If that doesn't get W7 correct then do this. So from a booted live Ubuntu cd or thumbdrive lets see the bootscript read out; in my signature just click on it and follow the instructions. Come back to the thread and click on the (#) in the reply panel this makes code tags paste all the text in between.

I have tried `sudo update-grub` and grub-splash-screen has disappared completely.

Two entires for /dev/sdb?

Can you re-run the script again and post the result or perhaps someone else could tell us what's going on here?

Follow this guide (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RecoveringUbuntuAfterInstallingWindows) from your live CD in order to restore Grub.

As for Windows, There should be a 100 MiB partition on your drive that Windows 7 uses to boot. If Windows fails to boot after you select it from your Grub list at startup, one possibility is that such a partition is missing.

Follow the guide in the last post. There is also this how to reload grub2 as well from the booted Ubuntu thumb.
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Grub2#Reinstalling%20GRUB%202

All this will do is get the grub menu back and get you into Ubuntu. You will need a W7 recovery bootable media in order to fix W7. Here is a link to that.
http://neosmart.net/blog/2009/windows-7-system-repair-discs/

So there is no special fix for W7, and it may not be fixable hard to say, the script is missing all the Windows files you would normally see. I have seen stuff missing, and working systems, but yours seems a bit far from there. You will only fix W7 with it's tools.
