Hi all,

I have been using Kubuntu for a few years now but rarely use the terminal although have been able to cut and paste instructions in the past.

I just upgraded to 10.04, dual boot with windows and Ubuntu, where I kept mp previous /home. I would like to use, or at least start with, the default 10.04 desktop. Is there a simple way of resetting the desktop in 10.04 to the default?

Thanks,
Jim

I think the easiest way to get the default desktop on the customized system is to create another user and then login as that new user. Obviously, you'll get the default Kubuntu desktop if you have Kubuntu installed.

By default desktop do you mean Gnome rather than KDE or to revert back to a 'clean' KDE desktop as Mikewhatever has advised for?

If it is the former then this is what you need - http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/puregnome

Hi,
I was experimenting using the linux mint menu on a few of our machines, and decided that we like the default gnome panels instead. I found this site (http://www.watchingthenet.com/restore-panels-in-ubuntu-back-to-their-default-settings.html) that showed me how to reset to default gnome panels. Don't know if that's what you wanted but it worked for us.
