what is a good camera to use for linux?

I use it in some cases, but not much. My built-in webcam works fine (HP laptop).

i plugged in my lifecam vx-6000 and it is working much better than it used to on a previous version of ubunut.

One thing I discovered, if you have a low light, then your FPS will drop perhaps top 3. Turn on some room lights, and i can get 29FPS.

Also, you might need to turn up the gain, I used guvcview -d /dev/video1
to start and set the gain from 1 to 18 and it helped the picture brighten a lot. I left auto exposure on.

Are there other programs that expose the v4l2 settings?
