Hello all,

I was just wondering what, what should I do with my Ubuntu server? What are some cool server applications I should be running on it?

I have a Windows 2008R2 Server with Hyper-V and an Ubuntu 10.4 32 bit VM. I have set up an ssh server, but that is as far as I have gone. My Windows host server handles file sharing and media streaming. I also do not need any routing as I have a pfsense VM running as my router.

I could set up webmin, but what else is out there that would be cool/fun/interesting to setup and run?

Thanks.

Rees

Make it an OSM server, or something interesting.

By OSM server do you mean OpenStreetMap server?

Yup, or dabble with any geo mapping stuff. It's fun.

Hmm, that seems interesting. Anything else anybody can think of?

You can set up a unison server (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unison_%28file_synchronizer%29) to keep your computers synchronized.

There's also tracks (http://getontracks.org/) to organize your todos and access them from everywhere (I wrote a tutorial here on how to do it (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1580690).

Or a teeworlds server to play with friends every once in a while if you're into it.
