well i wanna start developing games now but have no idea about any software package in ubuntu related to game development.. i am well versed in c c++knowledge of java perl n python but wud prefer game development in c++ environment.. were can i get that software? pls somebody help thanx to all :guitar::guitar::guitar:

Run Synaptic, search for g++

Oops, it's already installed in a basic Ubuntu installation -- but you'll want the docs.

Your application development will go a lot faster if you work on your Google searching skills.

thanx for ur link..it was really worth reading.. i have to develop game in c++..so anybody pls tell me any developer option or development environment in ubuntu for developing game..basically i have good programming experince but m completely new to game developing..so please help me

A popular development environment for C++ is Eclipse which is available in the repo's.

thanx a lot for ur answer.. i have eclipse installed in my lapi.. but can i use it for stuff like game development too?

Sure you can write whatever you like in Eclipse.

I don't know much about game development in C++ but I believe a popular library to use is SDL. (http://www.libsdl.org/)

Also these forums have a programming section (http://ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=39) where you can get more help.
