running programs

I'm running ubuntu on a toshiba protege r500 I tried to down load and install google earth and tried to install doom3 (following all instructions but unable to run either program I'm a noobe to ubuntu what am I doing wrong ? HELP !!!!!

did you download sh script for installing google earth? i had problems with that. i googled it and found a way to build a .deb package from that script and then installed it.

as for doom, can you give a few details? did you install it in wine? what instructions did you follow? btw there are few games that you can find in software center that are similar to doom - nexuiz and open arena, maybe you should check them out..
