I've been playing around with Mythbuntu recently, which has involved some reinstalling when something I install screws everything else up. I've got things a bit more stable now, but will likely still want to upgrade my MythTV version, install the next Mythbuntu distro or something else along those lines.

My setup involves a boot drive and a data drive. My data drive is currently mounted to /var/lib/mythtv, though I may play with that, too. My question is, will I be able to make a fresh reinstall of Mythbuntu and then simply mount the data drive to whichever directory I want and have it maintain it's file and directory structure? For instance, if I decided to mount the drive to /mythtv instead, would it show all of the same directories that were previously in /var/lib/mythtv?

I just want to make sure I have some idea how this works before I spend time ripping my DVD's, etc. Much thanks, all!
