I am trying to teach myself digital filter design. I've played around a little with Octave and this website:

Along with my old textbook on signals and systems. Back in the day, we used Matlab signal processing toolbox to design digital filters. Is there a good open source alternative that has a GUI? I've been using Octave which is basically most of Matlab. Wondering if there's something more intuitive / better.
