Hi people,

I want to install Ubuntu on a laptop which currently has a never touched edgy eft kubuntu 06.10 on it. The CD-drive is broken and booting from USB doesn't work. The thing to do seems to be following the instructions here https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/FromLinux (which say: download an iso-image of an ubuntu-live-CD, make a partition from which you can boot that one)

But: The laptop has a single harddrive with one giant partition, plus a little one, too small to contain the iso-file of the ubuntu10.10-live-disk. I would have to resize the big partition, but I can't, because this one is the boot partition from which the current Linux is running.

Does anyone have a creative idea?

Connect the laptop's HDD to a second computer and install Ubuntu to it from there.
