I see that the ubuntu forums have about 1.2 million registered users. I was just wondering what other forums have this kind of membership and possibly more?

I'm always amazed at the number of people here on this forum.

Internet forums are prevalent in several developed countries. In terms of countable posts, Japan is far in the lead with over two million posts per day on their largest forum, 2channel. China also has many millions of posts on forums such as Tianya Club.

Which is basically an English-imitation of 2ch.

What happens if you only speak English, and poorly at that?

Oh, and isn't the Gaia forum for some crazy game that nerds play, Kinda like WoW?

Big number. I think 4chan has more "members" though, I'd suspect that's the biggest "forum." It just doesn't register members or posts very reliably.

Which is basically an English-imitation of 2ch.
Yes, and more people speak english than Japanese, so obviously 4chan is bigger. Why did you bring up 2ch?

I already quoted from Wikipedia. Because 2ch gets more posts than 4chan. I've heard on several occasions that 2ch is the biggest internet forum in the world, though that may well have changed.

I don't see why one needs to assume that everything largest needs to be in English. You haven't provided any source as far as I can see.

Since its creation in 2003, 4chan has grown to become the US's largest forum and the world's largest English-language imageboard, achieving 705,000,000 page impressions and 10,200,000 unique visitors per month (~5.2 MM in the US). The website is mainly popular amongst males age 18-34 and, with its imageboard format, is based fully on user-generated content. Users post in a variety of interest-themed imageboards, including, but not limited to Video Games, Anime, Lifestyle and Technology. The site has an extremely dedicated, returning audience.

4chan themselves claim to be the largest "English-language imageboard," which is probably because 2ch (and perhaps some others) is bigger than 4ch. They have no entitlement to claim themselves to be the biggest in the world.
