random questions that idk where to put XP

first Q is probably a simple no , or a bit of configure changes :
is there any way to get a different background for each workspace?

2nd is way more complex
where should i start and what language should i use to try making a new window system
( the only example i know the name of is the windows explorer )
i know some c++ , decent java , and some random Internet based languages .

3rd , how do i make a screen saver ?
yes seriously , i have no clue where to start there either

if some 1 knows where this should go it would be usefull to XP

=D ty so much , now all i need is the info on making a winow manager =D

Edit: while the screen saver info was useful , i was looking more twards programming tutorials
i'd like to make a matrix like screen saver , heres the detailed info on what i'm trying with that
read text from 1 or more files
create layers of that text that will scroll up the screen in a configure-able color and speed while having each layer a diffrent depth of blur and actual depth
