Okay, I finally reinstalled the OS after trying out everything that was suggested for my problem .. After re-install I realise the problem is deeper than I am thinking it is ..

The OS installs properly (I tried installing both Ubuntu and Linux Mint and the problem remains) .. When I boot into it, it gives me a warning of "low graphics mode" and when I click okay, I am given these options --> Run Ubuntu in low-graphics mode for just one session
Reconfigure graphics
Troubleshoot the error
Exit to console login
Restart X

Now my cursor is unresponsive .. and if i select ' .. for just one session ' , i get a blank screen with a pointer which does not work. tty still work though ..

i tried Xorg -configure but it gives me an error that xorg is running ..

I need help .. :(

my video card is 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82G33/G31 Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02)
