Hi I Just bought a HP Pavillion system that has a dual core Intel Core i5-650 processor and 6 gb of ram .I'm wondering if I can use the 64 bit version of Ubuntu or is that only for computers with AMD processors?

If not will the 32 bit version work well?

If you want to use more than half of that 6GB or RAM you are going to need to use x64 (32 bit can only register about 2.5GB or RAM, 64 can get address a few terabytes).
I am pretty sure that the intel ripped off AMDs architecture so the 64 edition should work just fine.

Yes. AMD64 will work with Intel, as long as the Intel processor is a 64bit.

Hey astromech
Did you get Ubuntu to run on your HP Pavilion i5-650? I just ordered one, and just figured 10.10 would work. I've read some threads where the integrated graphics seemed to cause a problem. (see thread # 10267446).
