Hello fellow ubuntu members,

i am a C#/VB.NET/VB6 Coder and i want to move on to something less in that form

but i am looking for something with like a gui to choose of like vb.net or C# or vb6 is there any language that ubuntu can handle and that i can use like that ?? i don't mind learning a new language :)

Why don't you try C++ ? With QtCreator it's fantastic :)

The most used languages are probably C and C++, followed by Python and Perl for higher level stuff. Java had an increasing popularity thanks to the OpenJDK platform. Some people like me like arcane stuff like Common Lisp, which is just pure elegancy with a surprising amount of efficiency ;) For webdev, use PHP or Python or Perl (The "P" in the "LAMP" acronym can mean any of these :))

The nice thing is that you have plenty of choices. In your case, already having some programming experience, I think you could start wherever you like.
