Hey.

Stupid question.......

With 11.04 coming out in April....

So people who now have the Ubuntu Netbook Edition 10.10 and Ubuntu Desktop Edition 10.10....

When both those people upgrade their versions to 11.04, they will both have 100% identical software packages and systems right?

Yes, except for that at the beginning of an Ubuntu installation, it asks if you want to install updates and third party supported software. People who check these will have software automatically updated during installation, and also get stuff like mp3 plugins.

Obviously not, otherwise they would not be running 11.04.

Wrong ...

The Netbook edition has been optimized to work with the hardware present on netbooks, typically, the Intel Atom processor.

While it is true that Unity is planned to be the single interface for 11.04 for both the Desktop and Netbook editions, that does not mean that ALL packages will be the same.

Ok.

But in the future, when people visit the Ubuntu website, will they still have the choice to download the Netbook Edition vs the Desktop Edition? Or because they're being merged (so I've heard), only one Ubuntu will be available for download?
