Can't upgrade from 10.04 to 10.10

Hello,
I installed Ubuntu 10.04 with Wubi on my x64 laptop - now when I try to update it through the update manager, I get an error saying:


W:Failed to fetch http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/maverick-updates/main/binary-amd64/Packages.gz Sub-process gzip returned an error code (1)
, E:Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

You shouldn't be doing that anyway. wubi was designed for trying out with a eventual partitioned dual boot.

Ah, I see :/ - and is there an easy way for me to backup my settings/files/programs and restore everything after re-installing a fresh copy of Ubuntu?

You can actually migrate that wubi to a partition.
