installing with alternate cd, need help with drivers

I have a nvidia geforce 8600 gt graphics card and I tried installing normally which didn't work, so I'm using the alternate disc to install but what do I all need to run ubuntu 10.10 and work with my graphics card?

If you get to a graphical desktop after the installation, you are using the default open-source Nvidia drivers and don't have to do anything.

But if you then want to install the restricted Nvidia drivers, check System --> Administration --> Additional Drivers. IT should then offer you the Nividia drivers for you to install.
