Help. 9.04 has not been updating and is giving these messages. How do I correct the problem? Thanks for all the help.

Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

You need to upgrade. 9.04 has reached EOL. ;)

Backup your important datas and then fresh install a version of ubuntu 10.04 or ubuntu 10.10.

When 9.04 is no longer supported, which it is now not, you no longer get software updates from the Ubuntu repositories. So, they disconnect the repositories because people no longer have any use for them. If you upgrade, then you will continue to get software updates, otherwise you will have to keep using your computer how it is.
