Hello,

I have dell mini 10 inspiron machine with ubuntu 8.04 and trying to upgrade to 10.04 as suggested but I could not do it. I try to do from software sources but there is no upgrade option available.

I don't think there is an upgrade path, since the Dell mini 10s were sold with the LPIA version of Ubuntu, which has since been discontinued. Check out the link below for more elaborate explanations.

I should also note that Dell mini 10s are equipped with the gma500 (aka Poulsbo) chips, with Intel refusing to provide an up-to-date Linux driver for them. This means that after installing 10.04, you'll get wrong resolution and low frame rate. Follow the steps from the Poulsbo WIKI (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupportComponentsVideoCardsPoulsbo) to fix that.
