I've tried a few times now to install linux from a 4gb USB drive I have. I also have a 1GB drive I've tried and nothing seems to work. When I write the ISO to the USB using PenDriveLinux's program or even Unetbootin or Fedora's Live USB creation tool, I try and boot my machine from the USB drive and it just sits at a blank screen.

If I write the ISO to an SD card the exact same way I do a USB, it boots with no problem. I've checked BIOS settings and booting from a USB is enabled at the same time as booting from an SD card.

I've tried Ubuntu, Kubuntu, and Xubuntu with the same results.

Any clues as to what's going on? I used to be able to install from this USB drive in the past, but for some reason I can't anymore.

Can you try your USB stick in another computer to see if it boots there?
I understand some sticks just don't want to boot in some computers.

I once had to format the thumb drive several times before would be bootable. Not sure if that will help you.
