View Full Version : [ubuntu] Cannot Map LaCie NAS

December 23rd, 2010, 02:15 PM

I have a network drive which I am having problems with mapping across since I have reinstalled Windows Vista Home. I have read that the problem can occur on changing user name.

Every time I reboot the PC, the system tray identifies the Drive and if I open the drive browser, I can see all my files. But I cannot map the drive across - this means when I select Map Drive from Explorer, the NAS does not show. I have keyed in my user name and password, but that does not work either. Interestingly on MyNetwork, I can see the drive, but as a Windows Media option.

If I open the drive configuration window, it has an exclamation mark on SMB file sharing - I think this has something to do with it.

Other things: I have selected file sharing from my networking options and I have even disabled my firewall.

My Device Manager is showing that everything is fine, although at the beginning there was a driver missing for SMB controller, which I have consequently rectified.

I have even tried mapping the drive using IP address, but this does not work.

Thanks in advance for any help.
