hey all, i'm new here so i hope i'm in the right place.
ok, here's what happened. i installed virtuabox latest version but it wouldn't let me attach usb devices so i did some googling and found out an older version worked better and was more stable so i downloaded it. when installing it, i was warned i should uninstall the version already installed to install the new one but i ignored the message. after installation, the program wouldn't start. so i opened the package manager and uninstalled all virtualbox packages from there. it wouldn't install. it displayed an error of some aptdaemon thing.
so i uninstalled the apt package in order to reinstall it but now i don't know how to install it again. what do i do?

Welcome to the forums :-)

You need the closed source Virtualbox package as that is the one with USB support.

Download here or follow the instructions to add the non-free repos and install from Software Center.
