Stock mythbuntu 10.10 install, except that I took database from previous install (I think 9.10).

I've tried the sample download from the xvid faq site here:
http://www.xvidmovies.com/faq/#4.1, which also won't play.

Do I need to install a codec - or should that be part of the standard install?

Other ideas?

Thanks.

EDIT - Fixed by setting AVI and XVID to use internal (whatever that means)

Internal (note the upper case "I") is the mythtv internal player. You may have had it set to mplyer, or vlc, or xine, and not had the approproate player installed (mplayer was a common setting, and is not now included by default in mythbuntu).
