Anyone using Steam for games on Linux. I'm contemplating using Steam for some 2d gaming. Saw an Indie bundle the other day and also wanted to get Plants vs Zombies but was just wondering if it's a good platform for Linux ?

If you're referring to the Humble Indie Bundle 2 (http://www.humblebundle.com/) you don't need Steam for it. In fact, if you go through humble bundle directly you can get native Linux versions rather than running them through WINE.

For other games though, Steam is good, as long as the games themselves run on WINE. Just because Steam runs on WINE doesn't mean every game available to buy through it does.
(something I think a lot of the "RAAAWWR MAEK STEAM FOR LINUX!!!1 people don't understand)

I wish Steam and Skype would reveal their protocol secrets. Would really make our lives easier. ;)

That's what I've been saying for years. Just because they make Steam for Linux doesn't mean all the games you get through Steam will all of a sudden magically work with Linux.

+1 Desura (http://www.desura.com). It doesn't support Linux yet, however they are committed to do so and they also activate the Humble Indie Bundle 2 through it.

On a related note, I use CrossOver Games for my Steam needs. It works for many games (the ones I want to play at least): http://www.codeweavers.com/products/cxgames/
