Hi,
I just did a fresh install of Kubuntu 10.10. I have three drives, two of which I wanted to reformat, the third I wanted to save. I made sure that the format box was not checked on the drive I wanted to save, but when I rebooted, I found the drive empty.

I have found step by step instructions for recovering the partition with testdisk.
http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/Data_Recovery_Examples#Recovery_of_reformatted_par tition
However, when it says to choose boot, the only choices are Type, Superblock and Image Creation.

Here are my questions:
Why isn't testdisk giving me the options that it's own website says I should have?
Are there any alternative ways to recover my partition?
How did this happen in the first place?

I really hope someone can help me with this before I go mad.

Augie
