Hey it's hard to catch up if you missed a few meetings and I'd like to know what's going on. Maybe I missed something in a buried post and someone can help me out. But I was thinking.....

I have a question about using Launchpad for Broadcast messages and mailing list.

Matthew and Joe are both still posting relatively recently on this list that Matthew started. So should we use this instead of Launchpad.net? I know that the wiki and Ubuntu/Canonical are tied snugly to Launchpad but we're not developing software, we're promoting it. This might be a more concise solution, or maybe I misunderstand the usefulness of Launchpad and how it integrates. I will post to Matthew (Penguinista) on his recent thread ("Great to see the activity!" http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1633987) and ask him for some input. I'd like to hear everyone else as well. We definitely need to focus our communications into one or two distinct channels to ensure that everyone is "on the same page". I've said before that I prefer the forums for search-able, open communications/archives, those that prefer email notifications and reminders need only to subscribe to the threads they want to follow either from the dashboard in the forums, or they can use the RSS feeds in the browser address bar. But, alas, I am but only one opinion out of many.

Curt (Azop) has been recording the IRC chat logs with a bot and archiving them for anyone that wasn't available or that wants to revisit a meeting.

Well the google docs sounds like it would be useful, however the link to that doesn't work for me maybe i need to be added on to the share. My gmail account is imahussey@gmail.com if you could help me there Mike.

Wyrless i'm not able to get to the link from Curtis either....the main website is up but not sure where to go to find the meeting notes.

I'm not trying to be rude or anything but it really seems like it would be easier to use this forum more, with the exception of meetings which a live chat session is more helpful, and using launchpad to broadcast group messages.
I'm really interested in what has been going on, since i've been out of the loop for a while. This is still exciting for me, as i'm sure it is for many of you too! Let's keep at it.

That's how I feel about the forum as well. We talked about using Google Docs for its collaboration functions, but if there's a way to do that in here, I would be interested in looking into that method, again, to keep things easily archived, search-able and accessible. Unless we're working on a project that requires the ability for multiple players to edit a document, an attachment works well; maybe with the addition of a wiki page that would list ALL attachments for ALL of our forum threads. That way a few months later when you are trying to reference something that we've already talked about, you don't have to go dig through myriad forum posts.

Mike, I couldn't use that link either, it took me to my own Google Docs, not the link you shared. What are we using this shared doc for? I must've missed the purpose when I retired from IRC Friday night.

so far the only reason i was givin for the docs is so we can use it for projects and ideas so far theres very little on it expect me and a few others playing around with it t o understand how it works the main reason i sent out a notrice is t otry and see who is intrested in the loco and wanted to make sure to let them have total acces t ogroup projects in the future whe nwe get that far so i was trying to make a list for us in that direction

Ok, cool. I didn't think about firing one out there for everyone to poke around on and get accustomed to. I thought maybe you guys came up with something after I left. Rock on.

The best way to communicate via e-mail is to use the Missouri Team mailing list on mailman...ubuntu-us-mo@lists.ubuntu.com. By subscribing to and using the mailing lists, members will see your e-mails from a single mailing address (ubuntu-us-mo@lists.ubuntu.com) which they can then filter (for those using Evolution, Thunderbird, etc.) or label (Gmail, etc.). Plus, those who are using junk mail filters can whitelist a single e-mail address.

ubuntu-us-mo is also an "opt-in" list, so you can be sure you are talking only to folks who want to hear the message. Not everyone in the Missouri LoCo Team may want to get a lot of e-mail.

The forums is also a good spot to coordinate activities.
