Has anyone here ever actually tried to hit hay? And when you say "hit the hay", are do you mean the hay, or just "the" hay?

Just finished my nightly bowl of captncrunch. and yes, I've actually hit the hay. I grew up on a farm and spent one maybe two nights in a barn. Yes, I was a typical teenager who wanted to prove something to myself so I spent a couple of nights in a barn :-)
