What is your favorite show (series)

I tried to think of a better way to put this but statistics have shown that people don't watch as much TV as they used to. Instead they're at their computer screens. :-) So what is your favorite series?

Mine would have to be three actually, NCIS, Psych, and Medium :-)

We have never had TV in the house (over 20 years) but we do like a good story.

I have the first 8 series of Red Dwarf.

I'd also like to get all of the MASH series too.

& Battlestar Galactica. :)

I don't own a TV, but I am a big consumer of TV shows on DVD. I have to admit of the recent shows, FlashForward is the only one to grab my attention. I am so.. saddened and pissy that it got cancelled. It was a great show.

NCIS is still great, Mythbusters as always provides. The Mentalist (though I have yet to see any of season 3).

It is slim pickings for really great stuff though.

Mythbusters is great!! I don't see how anyone would hate that show. As far as books go @handy I have only read one book completely through my entire life (I get bored easily) but I've been wanting to finish the series. If the other books are anything like the one I read I think I could dive right in. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is fantastic.

Fringe. What a fantastic show.

I also love The Mentalist, Supernatural, The Big Bang Theory and The Inbetweeners.

That said, I never watch any of them on a TV generally, usually on a computer.

Dang!!! I am remembering all the good shows now. (I've recently moved to a house which doesn't have a TV, They believe TV rots your brain. Personally I choose to believe you rot your own brain by not stimulating it) I love Caprica and Futurama. Although hulu hasn't updated Caprica in forever. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is fantastic.

My personal feelings on the matter is that it is a weakly constructed illogical story which clearly serves solely as a thinly veiled fantasy metaphor intended to further C.S. Lewis' well known religious views. I would not consider it a great piece of literature

However If you want some hard edged fantasy I would recommend Gardens of the Moon by Steven Erikson. If you are more to the light hearted fun style there is nothing which beats Terry Pratchett, I have a certain soft spot for the City Guard novels and the Moist Von Lipwig novels personally but they are all great. The pop culture references in Soul Music and The Truth are also worth the read. Pratchett is a barrel of laughs. I think the latter two will appeal to you and they are quick reads.

I don't know if I would call myself religious. I like it b/c it's creative and very illogical. (My nature is to make the most illogical thing I can think of Logical, so it's fun to me when things like this come out) It hinges not necessarily on religion (Unless you know the metaphor) but more on humanity's perception of right and wrong using people's perceptions as the guidelines and not texts. It also presents the reader (almost said user - need to stop programming an smell the flowers more often) with the idea that anything is possible.

I love those books, I bought just about all of them for $2-/each 2nd hand. Then I came across the audio books. Some of the stories captivate me more than others which is understandable when there are over 30 of the things.

What a mind Terry Pratchett has. Shame they didn't make a serries out of Diskworld, it may have run as long as M.A.S.H. & Happy Days.

It's a series about King Henry VIII. Excellent show. They are very accurate according to the books I've read.

"Ghost Whisperer" (though, if I watch two episodes in a row, I start feeling like I need to eat a bag of potato chips.)

"Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations" - love his rotten attitude.

"The First 48" - makes all cop shows look absolutely ridiculous.

"G. vs. E" - What a great show!

"The Invisible Man" - loved Hobbs.

So far, I've liked "No Ordinary Family" and "Nikita", but they're really just 'honorable mentions' at this point.

More than you can possibly imagine, e.g. the book "Small Gods" even has philosophers as characters. Some also make an appearance in Pyramids, if I remember the scene correctly Terry Pratchett manages to make a hilarious joke out of Xeno's paradoxes.

The books are funny and intelligent, often issues of science, philosophy and important turning points in civilization are the themes of the books. All mixed up in a flat world, travelling through space on the backs of four elephants, who in return stand on the giant space turtle Great A'tuin.
