I just installed Opera 10.62 and it is way cool I must admit. It has several features one oh which is to let you share folders with friends and family. It uses a url with the option for a password. Is there a utility within ubuntu itself that does this? I know DropBox does this but you must actually upload the file, with Opera you don't have to!
Thanks,

the 20+ year old netcat (or nc) command can do that just cat ANY_FILE | nc -vvnl 8080 if you have a static ip, anyone with your ip address can download the file by using nc YOUR_IP 8080 > FILE. A few tweaks (like password entry) and you could have a nice file sharing shell script.
