Unable to Run Ubuntu

I just got a HP G56 108SA and i was planning to install Ubunti 10.10 on it but ive yet to be able to even get the system to boot.
I downloaded the ISO of ubuntu 10.10 64bit, burnt it with nero and ran the disk it starts to load and you see the ubuntu text with the scrolling blocks under it and after a few mins i notice the DVD drive is no longer flashing but the screen still shows ubuntu with the scrolling loading graphic.
Left it for 20 mins and still doing the same thing, anyone know how to get around this?

Try the 'nomodeset' boot parameter.

Hit any key as soon as the computer starts booting from the disk and gain access to the boot options page. Press F6, enable nomodeset and continue boot.

If that doesn't help, from the same page, check your disc for defects.
