Ubuntu takes a lot of punches from time to time for its marketing and even its interface. Some feel Ubuntu is dumbed down and oversimplified, while many others think it's innovative and user-friendly. Where ever you fall in the debate, one developer thinks some elements of Ubuntu should land into openSUSE. In fact, he has packaged up and pushed them to openSUSE:Contrib.

Interesting (but doesn't affect me as I am now on KDE :p)

Really good news! I think everyone should just switch to the indicator system, including KDE.

Ubuntu's indicator stuff is actually an implementation of KDE's Status Notifier specification (while working with the KDE developers to make said specification work well for us). Here's part of KDE4's implementation:
http://api.kde.org/4.x-api/kdelibs-apidocs/kdeui/html/classKStatusNotifierItem.html

And given that the stable version of Dropbox on Linux now uses libindicate, I think we're on the right track for everyone to have their “aha!” moment and switch over ;)

It is always great news when more users get access to these technologies. Soon perhaps openSUSE users will be able to choose a setup more akin to Ubuntu but with their preferred distro underneath. In which case we all win.
