Hey Lads,

I'm pretty novice on Ubuntu.I've tried it out on a virtual machine and it has attracted me.

So now I want to set up Ubuntu on one of the three partitions of my hard disk.Though after booting the disc and selecting "Install Ubuntu",a black backgrounded blank page appears with a blinking dash on its uppermost left.And nothing happens that neither CPU nor disc driver nor HDD runs,the machine simply stops...

I don't exactly know what information is required for this problem,however can supply some screenshots:

About already installed OS;

By the I'm sure that nothing is wrong with the installing disc and its driver.

Thanks in advance,
Regards,

Sinan

I am assuming that you click the Install icon from the desktop after loading the Live environment.
Try the other way:
When the LiveCD loads, a small rectangle will appear at the bottom. When you see it press the spacebar.
A menu will appear with something like: Try Ubuntu, Install Ubuntu.
Select the install Ubuntu option and go through the installation procedure if it works.

If the above does not work, you may want to try the Alternate CD.

Nope.CD-Room has been booted as first boot device then a menu appeared and I selected English as language,then entered "Install Ubuntu" and nothing happened..
