So i decided to do an apt-upgrade today.....everything seem well....but something was not quite right....something was irritating me..
I figured it out, they modified the beloved theme. They changed the color of the Maximize button, and i swear the whole window decoration looks less glossy

and changed to:

meh, I don't mind the new theme too much.
Still looks pretty slick.
xfce seems still to be a little heavy for a "light" DE. Not overly impressive speed performance on my laptop, with dapper.

The new one is OK, but the old one looked all glossy and pretty. This new one is dull....

I'm using the G3 window manager theme. Every time I do a dist-upgrade involving xubuntu-desktop it reverts back to the default theme. If I open the setting manager it usually fixes itself without my having to change anything.

The problem is, they CHANGED the default theme......The first screen shot is the old default theme, and the second screenshot is the new default theme....

Maybe they should make it glossy again, and make the close-button turn red when you put the mouse over it. The new one is admittedly a little dull.

Yea the mouseover would be optimal....

I think I tracked down how it changed (see /usr/share/themes/Default/xfwm4/README). In any case, you could check an old version of xfwm4, and then maybe extract and rename the theme for your own purposes.

Anyone have the old version and can zip up and send me?

I have that package from the 3/29/06 version, but it could just as easily be in your /var/cache/apt/archives folder on your hard drive.

If you have it, it would be called "xfwm4" with some version stuff (4.3.0 is the version I have).

That theme is not there.
Anyways I extracted the old theme off an old backup I had.
